8th Grade Parents' Orientation
About the WHRHS Science Department:
The science program is designed to satisfy a range of interests and student needs. Student learning accelerates from simple memory recall to deductive reasoning. The mission of the Science Department is focused on the theme “Students learn science by doing science.” Thus, all courses build in as much demonstration and hands-on experimentation as appropriate. Many year-long courses offer a double laboratory period, for which students may earn six credits.
Three years of science are required for graduation (beginning with the Class of 2005), but colleges often require more. Thus, several tracks for multiple sciences are available to students. Special interest sciences are offered in semester courses. All entering freshmen must pass the NJ State HSPA in science to graduate.
