Guidelines for Sick Students

Children that have a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher within the last 24 hour period should stay home from school to avoid the possible spread of disease.

• Children that have a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher within the last 24 hour period should stay home from school to avoid the possible spread of disease.
• Vomiting and/or diarrhea within the last 24 hours should stay home for a 24 hour period without vomiting or diarrhea.
• If your child has a rash that you do not know where it came from, they should be kept home until the cause of the rash is determined. Many diseases start with a rash before any other symptoms appear.
• Severe cold symptoms - excessive coughing or sneezing. Continued and prolonged coughing may be related to asthma and should be checked by your doctor.
• Red, watery, itchy eyes not related to allergies may be a sign of conjunctivitis. Bacterial conjunctivitis is contagious; children must stay home until medication has been administered for a 24 hours period.
