Media Center Information and Policies

The Media Center has over 25,000 volumes, including an extensive reference and non-fiction collection, classic and popular fiction books, and educational videocassettes. More than 90 educational and recreational magazines, two daily newspapers, and one local weekly newspaper are available. Computers provide access to the Internet, 19 research databases, more than 400 e-Books, the card catalog, and Microsoft Office applications.

Hours

The Media Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Students are required to have an individual pass to come to the Media Center. Supervision teachers may issue up to five passes during study halls and Gym/Health Study. Classroom teachers may issue up to five passes during class periods. Passes are not required during lunch or after school.

Circulation Procedures

Students may check out up to ten circulating books for a loan period of two weeks. Books may be renewed twice. Students can renew materials by coming to the Media Center, calling the Media Center at 647-4800 x4888, or sending an email message to the Media Specialist with their student name and ID number.

Books placed on reserve carts for specific projects may have restricted loan periods and renewal limits as specified by individual teachers.

Reference books, magazines, and videos are not checked out to students.

Materials returned late are subject to overdue fines of 5¢ per school day, with a maximum fine of $30.00 per book. Books placed on teachers' reserve carts, and with restricted loan periods, are subject to fines of 50¢ per school day. Overdue notices will be distributed regularly through English teachers.

Lost books should be reported to the Media Specialist. Students are responsible for replacement costs.
